Spring 2011 Elections> Veronica T. Hernandez for Southwest Regional Director Veronica T. Hernandez is a Professional Development Consultant for the Education Service Center Region 19 in El Paso, Texas. Veronica has worked diligently with all stakeholders in the El Paso and Hudspeth Counties as the director of the Excellence in Mathematics Teaching grant to enhance mathematical content and provide positive experiences for all. She provides professional learning opportunities regularly to K-12 mathematics teachers to build content and to enhance the mathematical experiences that teachers provide for students. Prior to her current position, she contributed as a mathematics facilitator in the elementary mathematics department, a central office team at El Paso ISD. Veronica has also served as a mentor via the USI, USP and MSP grants, to high school mathematics teachers. Raised in El Paso, Texas, Veronica lives with her two children, husband and two dogs. Veronica enjoys giving back to her community. While not working with teachers or students, she volunteers at church and serves as secretary on the Far West Texas HOBY Board. This board organizes an annual leadership seminar for sophomore students. [return to elections main page]
